Flood Effects

The flood has been a great problem for everyone in Thailand for the past month. It didn’t cause me to relocate. It flooded here for a week and then it was over. They did however find an alligator on the main roads somewhere near Saraburi (where I live). I live quite far from Bangkok. It usually takes me around one and half hours to get to there. Since all the roads were blocked if I wanted to go to Bangkok or anywhere for that matter, it would take me around 4 hours. I was practically stuck all four weeks at home with nowhere to go and horrible Internet. Almost everyday for the past two weeks the water would go off for a few hours. It became really annoying.

These floods have affected Thailand’s economy as well as the people’s lives. The farm fields have flooded and farmers cant grow crops, therefore the is less trade of rice. This would increase the price of rice because the supply is low and the demand is high. The tourism companies have lost loads of money since most of the tourist spots are flooded and no one wants to visit a company at such a bad time. My parents have been talking about how health problems are going to start. My father says that the worst part of the floods is when it is over and its extremely dirty everywhere. That is going to cause some very big health issues. I think that is our biggest concern.

Thousands of people have been dislocated from their homes. Many people’s houses are flooded and belongings are wet. I have been wondering how I can offer my help to the flood victims. The best I can come up with is to donate a lot of food, mineral water, and raincoats. For a week when it was flooded near my house I remember regretting not having rain boots. I think those are very important too. You have no idea what might be in the water and your feet should definitely be protected incase some animal comes and bites you. My moral compass is telling me to go help the groups helping out the flood victims. I will try in anyway possible to help the people for the floods. I will try to support the people of “Wipe the tide”.

My Identity Video

A personality trait that you can spot out from this video is that I am a big bookworm. I am a bibliomaniac , every time I go to the bookstore I have to buy a book before leaving. I am also an athletic person. I love playing soccer and when I don't I like to go running. Somethings that were not shown in the video is that   I am a very naturalistic, I love beaches and mountains. I am a brave person I like taking risks, the only thing I am scared of are snakes. They I horrify me, even if I see a picture I feel like its going to come out and eat me up. Another trait I have is  am gregarious, I can't stay at home for a long time I get super bored.

Major influences in my life are my parents and friends. My dad always told me to read and suggested books all the time. Then I read the Harry Potter series and I have loved reading since. My dad also made me brave and strong, he thought me how to face my fears and to not be so sensitive. I have a huge family because my mother has like 7 brothers and sisters, and we are all very close. I am a huge family person, I love spending time with my family. My friends, well I don't know what I would do without them. They help me in various occasions and influence me not only in school, but outside as well. My friends have made me a more confident person, without them I wouldn't be able to make silly mistakes and laugh about it later on.

This project was exasperating, tiresome, maddening! It made me feel obnoxious. Like everyone else I spent my week working hard on my project, juggling between homework, soccer, and the project. Finally on Sunday evening I finnish it. I started to celebrate, then when it came time to export the movie, my iMovie quit unexpectedly. I got a bit tensed, however I tried again, and again, and again. I got frustrated and went to school the next day hoping I would have luck over there, but I didn't. I went to the technology person and he said that I would have to start again. So, having no other choice I did it again, carefully doing all my steps and luckily when I completely finished it the file exported! I felt so exhilarated I went around everywhere singing I had finished my video. Even though this project was hard, the best part according to me is when we looked for pictures. I got to go down memory lane. I looked through all the old pictures of my parents, my childhood, my cousins, everyone. So, even though the project was stressful like everything else it also had a positive impact.

Birmingham Grid of Learning Reflection

On the first week of school I took a personality test called the Birmingham Grid of Learning. I agree with most of my results. For example one of my lowest bars on the graph was for music smart and I agree with that because I am not at all musically talented, I love listening to music, but I am not a singer or know how to play any instruments. Neither am I intrapersonal. I tend to focus on others problems more than my own. I am definitely interpersonal in that way. It was predictable that I would be nature smart. Both my parents are HUGE nature people. Every holiday we either go the beach for my father or go to the mountain areas for my mother. It is just in my genes to love nature. I learn more from getting up and doing things rather than just listening to lectures, but I still learn from lectures so i was satisfied with my results about being kinesthetic. Going to logical, that result was somewhat surprising because I am good at math, but I wasn't surprised too much because I am not a fan of math or science. My bar on being linguistic and picture smart is about the same. I can look at a picture and learn about the message or story it is trying to capture. Words help me visualize the scene. I love learning and practicing new words I see in the books I read. So, overall I agree with mostly all my results and am glad to know more about my self than I did before.
